Technician Spotlight: Carlos M. on What Makes LA Duct Cleaning Unique

Los Angeles·January 12, 2026·Carlos Martinez·2 min read

Senior technician Carlos Martinez shares his perspective on the unique air duct cleaning challenges in Los Angeles and what keeps him passionate about indoor air quality.

My name is Carlos Martinez, and I have been a senior duct cleaning technician at VENTNEX Los Angeles for three years. In that time, I have serviced hundreds of homes across the LA metro area, and I can tell you that no two jobs are exactly alike.

One thing that makes Los Angeles unique is the sheer variety of housing. In a single week, I might work on a 1920s Spanish colonial in Los Feliz, a mid-century modern in Palm Springs, and a brand-new construction in Santa Clarita. Each type of home has different ductwork configurations, different challenges, and different solutions.

The biggest issue I see in LA homes is a combination of dust and biological growth. Our dry climate generates a lot of fine dust, and when you add in the moisture from coastal humidity, you get conditions that are perfect for mold growth inside ductwork. I always recommend that homeowners pay attention to any musty smells coming from their vents, that is usually the first sign of a problem.

What keeps me passionate about this work is knowing that a thorough duct cleaning can genuinely change someone's quality of life. I have had customers tell me their allergies improved overnight after our service. That kind of feedback makes every job worthwhile.
